Grounding rod (also called an earthing rod) is a metal electrode driven into the soil to create a connection between an electrical installation and earth. It is one of the most common types of earth electrode and is used to help control touch voltage and provide a fault path in certain earthing arrangements, especially TT systems.
Earth rods are typically made from:
– Copper-bonded steel
– Galvanized steel
– Stainless steel (in corrosive soils)
– Pure copper
