Selection Guide for Cable Lugs

The selection of connector lugs directly affects the safety and reliability of electrical systems, requiring comprehensive consideration of factors such as wire compatibility, bolt compatibility, and current carrying capacity verification. Wire compatibility requires the inner diameter of the connector lug to match the outer diameter of the cable, with the inner diameter being 0.2-0.5 mm larger. Bolt compatibility requires the bolt hole diameter to be 0.2-0.5 mm larger than the bolt diameter, and the specified torque must be applied according to specifications, such as 8-12 N·m for DT-10 and 20-25 N·m for DT-120. Current carrying capacity verification requires that the actual application current not exceed the rated current multiplied by the derating factor. The rated current is calculated based on an ambient temperature of 40℃ and a temperature rise ≤50K; a derating of 15%-20% is recommended for actual applications.

Environmental adaptability considerations include the use of PA66 material housings (temperature resistance 105℃) or ceramic bases in high-temperature environments, tin-plated or nickel-plated terminals in corrosive environments, and salt spray resistance typically requiring ≥96 hours. Outdoor equipment must consider UV aging resistance. In special scenario selection, high-voltage wiring harnesses for new energy vehicles require terminals that are vibration-resistant, resistant to high and low temperatures (-40℃~180℃), lightweight, and have good conductivity, such as DTG series tubular structures and silver-plated copper terminals; photovoltaic systems need to withstand UV aging and prioritize corrosion resistance, and can be equipped with silicone sealing sleeves.

Selection verification should prioritize the "dual verification" principle, that is, simultaneously verifying dimensional matching and electrical performance. It is recommended to periodically use a micro-ohmmeter to randomly check parameters such as the contact resistance of in-use wiring lugs.
